What is the DOE Studio?

The Minority Serving Institutions (MSI) Connect Platform, spearheaded by Brookhaven National Laboratory, is an immersive summer fellowship for MSI undergraduate, graduate students and alumni to work in collaborative teams paired with Department of Energy (DOE) lab technology. The fellowship is a training program, intended to build entrepreneurial skills and knowledge around technology transfer and commercialization. Successful fellowship teams will have an opportunity to secure up to $75,000 in follow on funding in Phase II at the Final Pitch Event at Brookhaven National Lab in New York.

$12,900 Phase I

Summer Fellowship Stipend

 

Phase I Fellows receive a stipend for 9 weeks. Fellows will build entrepreneurial skills and knowledge around technology transfer and commercialization.

$75,000 Phase II

Seed Grant

Phase II teams will spend 12 months in immersive programming aimed at venture creation.

Community Impact 

Create a pipeline of entrepreneurial talent to transition into the DOE landscape and foster the expansion of an innovative ecosystem within their communities.

Fellowship Program FAQ

Applicants must be:

Enrolled full-time undergraduate or graduate students who are at least 18 years of age

- U.S citizens

- Majoring in any of the following programs: Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), Business, Entrepreneurship, and/or Innovation
